ONE THING LEANING ON ANOTHER

a project by Daniela Pălimariu and Raluca Popa, guest artists at residency.ch

Visual artists Daniela Pălimariu and Raluca Popa, in residence for a month in Bern, have been collaborating for a project that connects the Botanischer Garten and the Orangerie space to the Vitrine at PROGR.

The various interventions in the Garten, as well as the works in the Orangerie and the Vitrine interrogate the ways in which the wanderer, the viewer makes use of the Garten, as well as their expectations. The project also touches upon the ways in which the Garten directs and informs its visitors, as well as its role in protecting and displaying the plants in its care.

While the subtle and scattered interventions around the Garten may challenge the expectations of visitors and personnel alike, the Orangerie and the Vitrine mirror each other and work mostly as display cases. They are spaces in-between movements, offering much needed moments for pause and introspection.

We meet at the Orangerie in the Botanischer Garten at 4pm. We take a tour of the Garten interventions at 5pm. Then, across the Aare river, we arrive at PROGR for the Vitrine opening at 6pm.
